Black less interested in tax cuts; Senate shuts down committees
Legislative leaders sounded far apart Wednesday on a tax agreement, the linchpin to deal on a state budget for the next two years.
Senate leaders unveiled their long-awaited plans for swapping higher business and consumer taxes for lower property taxes Monday. The proposal including a revamped franchise tax on businesses that would raise $2.2 billion more per year than the current version.
