St. Charles sheriff 'rolls back' millage to avoid increasing tax
St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne has "rolled back" property taxes for his department so as not to take additional revenue from rising property values. Champagne, who levied 21.41 mills of property tax in 2006, will lower the rate to 21.22 mills.
