Leawood voters consider tax increase
Leawood residents will get to vote next week on a sales tax increase proposed by the city. A ballot item will ask Leawood voters if they support a 0.4 percent sales tax increase as a means to pay for construction of a new justice center at 117th Street and Tomahawk Creek Parkway. If the item fails, Leawood officials say the city will have to finance the construction with a property tax increase.
