Stalled sales hurt city's tax collection
Stalled car, home and retail sales have severely slowed the flow of city sales tax collections, with revenue down 13 percent in September compared with a year ago.
State rejects soccer stadium tax plan
A proposed Summit County cigarette tax to fund a $170 million soccer stadium is dead, at least for now. The closed-door decision by the Ohio General Assembly places in ``serious jeopardy'' a 20,000-seat soccer stadium and surrounding private development in northern Summit County, developer Paul Garofolo said Tuesday.
Monroe County taxpayers can know this much: The county won't be raising its property tax or sales tax to cover its budget gap for 2007.
