Builders wary of curtailed tax credits
PROVIDENCE — Since its inception in 2002, the state’s historic-tax credit program is credited by developers with reviving Providence’s fortunes and injecting life back into moribund areas of the city, from bringing residences back to the downtown to finally opening the Masonic Temple next to the State House.
You probably don't know what your federal tax liability will be for 2007, and Congress certainly isn't helping. Lawmakers have yet to pass a temporary fix to the Alternative Minimum Tax, to prevent 21 million of us from having to pay the so-called wealth tax.
White Plains To Increase Sales Tax On June 1st
The city sales tax in White Plains will jump a quarter-percent on June 1st. The Common Council approved the increase Tuesday night - which means customers will pay a total of eight-and-a-eighth percent in sales taxes at the register.
