Hotel tax proposal returning to ballot
The St. Bernard Parish Council will put a hotel-motel occupancy tax measure on the Oct. 4 ballot. If approved by the parish's voters, the 2-percent tax would be paid by visitors staying in hotels, motels, bed-and-breakfasts and RV parks and would generate an estimated $40,000 to $50,000 annually.
