Basics of city's proposed B&O tax explained
Vancouver tonight will decide whether it wants to stay on course toward what would be the biggest tax increase in city history. The city council will meet at 7 p.m. to consider setting an Aug. 21 public hearing on a business tax that would raise an estimated $12 million in 2010.
Protests delay 10,500 Harris property tax bills
With a year-end deadline approaching for Harris County property taxpayers who want to claim their federal income tax deduction, nearly 10,500 property owners have yet to receive their final tax bill because their assessment protests have not been heard. That's up from last year, when the county had 8,800 such cases pending at the end of the year.
