Romney rethinking new powers for tax aide
Governor Mitt Romney backed away yesterday from his proposal to give the state's top revenue official new discretion to pursue corporations that lower their tax bills by transferring profits outside Massachusetts, as national antitax groups chastised the governor for his broader, three-year quest to close what he calls tax loopholes benefiting corporations.
PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd says the May Budget will aim to get the balance right between private and public demand to help rein in inflation, but the Federal Government is committed to giving tax cuts.

Ever since the ordinary tax rates decreased in 2001, the alternative minimum tax has been a very hot topic, when in fact this tax was originally designed to only affect the very wealthy.
