Government eyes new sin tax rate
The Finance Department wants Congress to pass a bill imposing a uniform excise tax rate of P14 per pack on all cigarette brands starting 2010. “We expect to collect more from this bill because this will be easier to implement and clear to everybody,” said Finance Undersecretary Gil Beltran.
