$100M tax cut favored, dropping food tax is not

The Senate Republican Caucus voted Thursday to support a $100 million tax cut, but probably will oppose elimination of the sales tax on groceries, said Senate President John Valentine. Removing the grocery tax would cause a $167 million loss in tax revenues that would make other legislative goals impossible, Valentine said, including road building and increased education funding.
