Higher mortgage repayments follow tax cuts
BIG tax cuts in the May budget could force interest rates up half a per cent, leaving home owners paying higher mortgage repayments. Leading forecaster Access Economics fears tax cuts in next month's budget are unsustainable as the population ages and could worsen the massive current account deficit and force the Reserve Bank to lift interest rates.
